The Perth Amboy Free Public Library subscribes to several online databases that are available to the public. If you have any questions regarding the databases or access, please contact the library.

Most databases can be accessed anywhere with an Internet connection using a Perth Amboy Free Public Library Card. Databases marked "in-library use" are only accessible for the public on one of the Library's in-house computers.

Great Websites for Kids

Great Websites for Kids is a compilation of exemplary websites geared to children from birth to age 14. Suggested sites are evaluated by the Great Websites for Kids Committee using established
selection criteria. The committee is made up of members of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.


Offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and local/national

Health Reference Center

Health Reference Center comprehensive, in-depth coverage of body systems, current health issues, major diseases and conditions, treatments,
and procedures, as well as health and nutrition information specific to men, women, children, teens, and seniors. The up-to-date information comes from hundreds of authoritative sources, plus users can find thousands of videos, illustrations,
journal articles from PubMed Central, and reference articles from MedlinePlus.


Hoopla is a digital content provider of music, e-books, audiobooks, movies, comics, and television, with currently more than 400,000 titles available across these formats. Library patrons have access to all content instantly without having to place a hold or wait for a title to become available.

Registration is required. You will need your Library Card number and PIN code in order to register for an account. Users are allowed five checkouts per month. This
service is provided via our membership in LMxAC.

The Image Collection

The Image Collection consists of more than 1 million total images in these categories, broken down as follows:

  • Photographs
  • Images from Canadian Press, Getty Images, and UPI
  • Maps from Antenna Audio
  • Photographs from public domain sources

The images consist of a wide array of photos and maps, with an emphasis on world news and events. Other areas of coverage include contemporary and historical photos of people, places, and the natural kingdom.
