Voting & Election Information
The Clerk's Office is also in charge of all elections. The next election is the General election for November 5, 2024.
VOTER REGISTRATION
Registration requirements state you must be at least 17 years old to register but must be 18 on or before the election date to vote. You must be a U.S. citizen, either native-born or naturalized, and have resided in New Jersey and in your county for 30 days prior to the election. You may register by mailing a registration form to the Middlesex County Commissioner of Registration. If you are moving to the City of Perth Amboy from another municipality within Middlesex County, you may complete a change of address form. If you are moving from another county or state, you must re-register. Forms may be obtained at the Clerk's Office in City Hall or at the
Middlesex County Clerk Elections website.
VOTE BY MAIL
Instructions for voting by mail:
- Fill out the application, print, and sign your name where indicated.
- Mail or deliver the application to the County Clerk - Middlesex County Clerk's Office, Middlesex County Administration Building, PO Box 1110, 75 Bayard Street, 4th Floor, New Brunswick, NJ 08903-1110.
- You must be a registered voter to apply for a mail-in ballot.
- Once you apply for a Mail-in Ballot, you cannot vote by machine at your polling place for that election.
- Your Mail-in Ballot must be received by the County Board of Elections before the polls close on Election Day.
- Instructions will be included with your ballot.
- Your ballot will be mailed on or after the 45th day prior to Election Day.
- Do not submit more than one application for the same election. You must apply for a Mail-in Ballot for each election unless you select an ongoing option under "VOTER OPTIONS."
WARNING
This application must be received by the County Clerk no later than 7 days before the election unless you apply in person or through an authorized messenger during County Clerk office hours.
