City crews are prepared and will be working throughout the storm. Major and emergency roadways will be
prioritized for salting and snow plowing.
Travel
Stay off the roads in severe conditions. If you must travel, use extra caution and carpool when possible.
Parking
Keep snow emergency streets clear when roads are snow covered. Vehicles may be ticketed or towed from restricted areas.
Parking restrictions & enforcement
- Do not reserve parking spaces with chairs, cones, trash cans, or any furniture. This is illegal and items may be removed.
- Follow posted signs that state “No Parking When Roads Are Snow Covered.” Vehicles in restricted areas may be towed.
Where to park (Municipal lots)
All municipal parking lots are available, metered spaces only. Monthly permit spaces are not included.
Exceptions: R.D. Howell Parking Lot (269 Madison Ave.) and Alexander F. Jankowski Community Center (1 Olive St.).
Sidewalks & property responsibilities
- Property owners and businesses must clear sidewalks adjacent to their property.
- Do not shovel snow into the street. Place snow on your lawn or the side of your property.
- If you live near a fire hydrant, please help clear snow around it so it is accessible during an emergency.
