Perth Amboy Traffic Safety Upgrades Announced
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – Middlesex County recently announced significant improvements aimed at enhancing pedestrian and vehicular safety at the intersection of Smith and Goodwin Streets in Perth Amboy.
The upgrades include replacing the traffic light system with Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS), improving ADA curb ramps, modifying the corner turning radius, and repainting crosswalks. These changes are part of the county's broader commitment to improving transportation infrastructure.
According to Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios, these efforts are a continuation of the county’s investment in transportation infrastructure, ensuring safer and more efficient roads for all users.
Perth Amboy Mayor Helmin J. Caba also expressed gratitude for the county’s partnership in enhancing the safety and quality of life in the city.
The final cost of the improvements was $627,827.67, shared equally by Middlesex County and the City of Perth Amboy.
