Hometown Hero Banner Program: Heartfelt Responses

Hometown Hero Banner Program: Heartfelt Responses from Our Community

The City of Perth Amboy is proud to honor our local heroes through the Hometown Hero Banner Program. This initiative pays tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country with distinction. Below are some of the touching responses we have received from family members of our honored heroes.

A Grateful Community

Elizabeth Lopez:

"Thank you so much for this, means a lot to our family."

Anna Gerena:

"Thank you so much for letting me know that the Hometown Hero Banners are now up! It is such a wonderful idea to pay tribute to those who have served their country. My husband would have been so happy to see his banner up. He was so proud to be a Marine. He passed away last year and it is such an honor for his family to have his picture hung up in his hometown. I already stopped by to look at it and it is beautiful!! Thank you again!"

Gloria Baker-Powell:

"THANK YOU! I found mine and my grandfather together."

Francis M Czapor:

"Thank you and all that support this program. It is with sincere appreciation and heart full thank you from myself, brother Joseph, and all the families of Perth Amboy."

Lisa Rosario:

"Thank you so much."

Karen Koch:

"I’m so honored that you’ve done this for my Dad, Martin Koch. He was born literally IN his home (corner of Market St and State St) on May 27, 1919. So I will be at the ceremony then see his flag on what would be his 105th birthday! (He passed away in 2003). He lived in several homes in town, then bought 231 Kearney Ave when he and my Mom married in 1955. I went to School 1 for Kindergarten, then we moved to Woodbridge. But my Dad had his law practice on Hobart St until around 2001. We spent a lot of time in Perth Amboy restaurants, at the waterfront, and visiting relatives. Perth Amboy was always dear to him, and it is to me as well. I’m overwhelmed that Dad has received this honor from the town he loved so much. Thank you!"

Mrs. Maria Sena:

"Thank you. I found my son Anthony."

Sandor:

"Thanks so much for honoring myself and all my fellow veterans with displaying these banners. Many good men and women from our beloved Perth Amboy, proudly served with some giving the ultimate sacrifice, to keep our great country the finest in all of the lands. Thanks again."
