MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – Middlesex County has taken significant steps forward in the development of the pocket park located on Fayette Street in Perth Amboy, including selecting Najarian Associates to assist with the design of the pocket park. In addition to enlisting Najarian Associates to assist with the concept design of the new park, Middlesex County has razed the former County public works garage, paved the lot, and installed fencing around the construction site.

The next phase will begin once the environmental remediation testing is completed, and final design is approved. Middlesex County and the City of Perth Amboy, first announced plans to develop the County Office of Public Works Garage site into a pocket park in November 2021.

“We’re excited to take the next steps in the process to turn this great piece of land in Middlesex County into a pocket park that can be enjoyed by everyone,” said Middlesex County Commissioners Director Ronald G. Rios. “This investment shows our continued commitment to providing recreational opportunities for our residents and visitors, while also brightening up our neighborhoods. On behalf of myself and my colleagues on the Board of County Commissioners, I thank Mayor Caba and his team for their significant role in this ongoing project.”

"We are grateful to Middlesex County for its investment in the creation of this new pocket park in the Gateway Neighborhood. This expands the city’s recreation, which is essential for residents and helps to enhance its beauty and environmental quality," said City of Perth Amboy Mayor Helmin J. Caba.

“In Middlesex County, we understand how important parks are, no matter how large or small. Situated in a residential area near a senior community, this pocket park will be of great use to the residents of Perth Amboy, as well as anyone else passing through this part of the County,” said County Commissioner Charles E. Tomaro, chair of the County’s infrastructure Management Committee.
