The Perth Amboy Parking Utility is responsible for the issuance of permits and enforcement, as stipulated by City Ordinance 312-11 and 312-16. All applications for permits are to be submitted to the Parking Utility Office with required documents. See below for information on the parking permits available.
RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING
Residential permit parking exists in two residential zones, (1) Hospital Zone and (2) Southern Area. These residential permits exist to help ensure that on street parking is not monopolized by adjacent commercial or institutional activities, but that it is made available to the Perth Amboy residents of that zone.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMIT
Permits are only granted to the residents of the zones referenced above who provide their:
- Proof of address
- Valid New Jersey Driver's License or a lease
- Vehicle Registration
Note: There is no cost for this permit. A permit is valid for one year and expires on December 31st of the year printed on the decal. You must re-apply to obtain an annual permit.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A COMMUTER PERMIT
Permits are only granted to commuters that provide:
- Valid New Jersey Driver's License
- Vehicle Registration
- Proof of Employment (i.e. most recent paystub- for other documents, please call our office staff at: 732-826-9223)
Note: There is no cost to a Perth Amboy resident for this permit. A permit is valid for one year and expires on June 30th of the year printed on the decal.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A MONTHLY PERMIT
Permits are only granted to those that provide their their:
- Valid New Jersey Driver's License
- Vehicle Registration
Monthly Fee: $55.00
Parking Locations: Lot 4, RD Howell Lot, Jefferson Street Deck, Train Station Lot, and the King Plaza Deck.
WHERE SHOULD I DISPLAY THE DECALS OR PERMITS?
The current parking permit/decal needs to be displayed on the left-side of the rear window in such a manner that can be viewed by an officer.
LOST OR STOLEN PERMITS
Please report all lost or stolen permits by calling the Perth Amboy Parking Utility. A fee of $5.00 will be charged to replace a lost or stolen Monthly, Residential or Commuter permit, as stated in the ordinance.
