What This Means for Perth Amboy
The Perth Amboy Planning Board has approved the Sea Gate waterfront
redevelopment plan, a $200 million investment that will remediate a
blighted brownfield site and create a new waterfront neighborhood with
public access and amenities.

Project Details
The Sea Gate project includes a 15.75-acre redevelopment area and is
expected to be constructed over approximately three years. The plan
includes 909 parking spaces and multiple public-facing improvements
funded by the redeveloper, including landscaping, streetscape
improvements, and lighting.
The agreement also includes an archaeological review as part of the
state-mandated redevelopment process, as well as a memorial recognizing
Thomas Mundy Peterson, a Perth Amboy resident who was the first African
American to vote following the ratification of the 15th Amendment.
