1. Heroes & Cool Kids

The Heroes & Cool Kids program utilizes the services of current and former professional athletes whose personal life experiences enable them to train high school student leaders .The athletes train high school students to mentor middle school students on important life skills, including sportsmanship, conflict resolution and positive lifestyle choices highlighting drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention.

"The goal of Heroes & Cool Kids is to promote pro-social behavior in students and to create a caring and disciplined school climate"

2. Municipal Alliance Prevention Summer Day Camp (M.A.P.S.)

Established in 1993, the Municipal Alliance Prevention Summer (M.A.P.S.) Day Camp brings awareness to children ages 5-10 of the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. During the six-week program participants are engaged in fun, recreational and creative activities that help instill decision making skills.

3. Prevention Days

Programs such as community events, teen nights and other activities that help provide residents with a safe and healthy alternative while bringing together community members of all ages. In addition, educational literature will be provided and residents will have the opportunity to obtain information about alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention.

a. Family Game Night - encourage families to spend a night together and come down to the community center to play various board games and billiards
b. Teen Nights - events that provide youth with safe alternatives, such as: open mics, dances, etc.
c. Special Events - incorporate drug and alcohol education through literature and presentations at various events taking place in the city.

4. Presenting Alternatives with Art (PAWA)

The goal of this program is to facilitate alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention by providing alternatives that encourage artistic expression. This program helps to develop artists to present information in a creative manner to encourage residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

5. Spanish Outreach

Provide drug and alcohol education to Spanish-speaking parents through culturally relevant strategies, discussing alternatives and creating awareness of available resources.
